Truth, Power and the Foundations of Democracy

Truth, Power, and the Foundations of Democracy is a series of workshops occuring this July and August, 2019, at Dartmouth College.

What role should truth have in a just and democratic society? How important are claims to truth for resisting unjust social practices? Can democracies effectively handle problems related to misinformation and limited information?

Truth, Power, and the Foundations of Democracy is an interdisciplinary project aimed at addressing these questions, and related ones. Registration is open to join the discussion this summer on the campus of Dartmouth College.

Truth, Power, and the Foundations of Democracy is co-organized by J. Russell Muirhead (Dartmouth Government) and David Plunkett (Dartmouth Philosophy).

The workshop schedule is as follows:

* All workshops have a pre-read format. Every session will involve discussion of a paper; for any session that you plan to attend, you should plan to read the session's paper beforehand. Papers will be shared with (and only with) those who register.

Links to registration are available on the workshop website.
