Baker Bells Festival: A Century of Civic Sound Exhibit Launch Party
Join us for the launch of A Century of Civic Sound with food and community! After perusing the exhibit, head out to the Baker Lawn for a special Bell Tower Concert.
This exhibit traces how generations of community members have shaped Dartmouth's sonic identity through the Baker Bells. Behind every sound ringing from the tower is a human story: the machinist who hacked player pianos to control the clock tower, the professors' wives who hand-punched over a thousand music rolls, and the student composers writing original works for the tower today. Visitors are invited to think about how sound shapes their sense of place. What should a college campus sound like and who should decide?
