‘Meet the World’ Refugee Series

A new series will be inaugurated this year: “Meet the World.” Colleagues, students, and staff are invited to meet with refugees who currently reside in New England. The refugees will talk about their lives and careers in informal meetings over lunch. Our first speakers are Umesh Acharya, who grew up in a refugee camp in Nepal, and Hemant Tamang who studied in India and is now a graduate student at UVM. They are both Bhutanese.

We will be collaborating with the Mayor of Rutland, Christopher Louras, on a project that aims at bringing together the people of Rutland with one hundred Syrian refugees that will soon arrive in Vermont. More information about this program will be posted when available.
